The latest in technology “must have” in computers has arrived - the Apple itablet will soon be hitting our shelves, “the best way to surf the web, scan photos with no less than 140 applications”. Yet another piece of technology promising to improve our communication skills. Surely, we already have enough choice I mean we hardly have enough time to verbally communicate these days as we all too busy texting or emailing. There is the iPhone, the laptop, the notepad and of course the Blackberry but to name few. I think we are all being seduced into wanting, thinking we need the next model of phone, etc... I notice Blackberry (Crackberry) have also launched a new model, but I certainly will not be rushing out to the shops to buy one. I admit I find my Blackberry very useful, it allows me complete flexibility and I can now work from anywhere with complete freedom, it is easy to use and wait for it - it fits into all of my handbags. However, sadly, it rules my life; well that is how it feels. The first thing I do in the morning is switch on my Blackberry (master) and the last at night I check it for tasks. If the battery runs low, I break into a cold sweat even if I am only a mile from home and even when I am instructed to put on the silent mode, I just cannot help checking my messages. So no, I am not tempted by the itablet well not yet anyway, but give it time. |

To twitter or not to twitter that is the question
I am just getting to grips with Twitter. Well if it is good enough for the Prime Minister's wife it is good enough for me. I must admit it has thrown up some questions - for those of you are who are seasoned twitterers please bear with me. For those of you who have not yet entered the world of tweetie pie and friends....The initiation process goes like this, after you have chosen a unique name (hopefully a witty and clever one) you then have to decide if you want your twitterings to go on the worldwide web or whether you want your tweets to go to a select list of your personal contacts. Now you might think I would be all for the wonders of the web me embracing the media and all that but you would be wrong. I had barely signed up for twitter and I had four followers (sounds like a cult I know) but I had not even twittered? I quickly opted for the protected twitters and promptly blocked my new found disciples (for reasons I will leave to your imagination). Now I was then left wondering who to follow. As usual I decided to try challenge my intellectual side so opted to follow The New York Times, unfortunately it looked rather serious and a little to heavy funny that being The New York Times, I will probably end up following George Clooney....shallow no, just being true to myself, predictable yes.
